EVANSTON, ILL. -- In their final weekend before starting Big Ten season, the Wildcats host Northern Illinois and Western Michigan Friday and Sunday at the Leonard B. Thomas Athletic Complex.
Northwestern went 1-1 in its next to last weekend before the start of Big Ten season. The 'Cats started strong on Friday, defeating Morehead State 8-0 at the Leonard B. Thomas Athletic Complex. Jeanette Lorme (Santa Clarita, Calif./Saugus), Tori Bohannon (Neenah, Wis./Neenah), Jenny Dunn (Pacific Palisades, Calif./Louisville), Shannon Schneeman (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham School), Jessica Palo (Ames, Iowa), Krystal Patterson (St. Louis, Mo./Shiloh(Ga.)) and Kelsey Hans (Lakville, Minn./Lakeville) (two goals) all scored in the win. Schneeman and Hans each had four points. The 'Cats fell to Ball State on Sunday, 1-0.
Scouting the Huskies
The Huskies (1-3-1) fell to DePaul, 3-2, in their last match. All the scoring took place in the first half. Karen Enockson, who leads NIU in goals with five, scored in the loss. Kim Schmitt has two goals and NIU has 11 total goals in six games. They've lost their only road contest of the year.
Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan (1-4-1) fell to Creighton, 2-0, in its last match. The Broncos have scored seven goals in their six contests. Thalia Playford leads the team in goals with three on the year. WMU has split up the goalkeeping duties between Sarah Phillips, Jenna Schrumpf and Jessica Laning. Each has started two games.
