TUCSON, Ariz. -- Sunday's final round of the eighth annual Mountain View Collegiate promises to be an exciting one as one stroke separates the top four teams in this year's event.
Northwestern, ranked 41st in the latest Golfweek ranking, is one of the four teams, sitting in a three-way tie for second place, one stroke back of Denver (293-298=591). The Wildcats (293-299=592) are tied with Missouri and Nebraska, two teams ranked in the Golfweek top 50.
Junior Alice Kim (Los Angeles, Calif./Brentwood) is in 14th place to lead the 'Cats, with a 3-over 147 (73-74). Right behind her are sophomore Brittany Johnston (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) and freshman Jennifer Hong (Windermere, Fla./The First Academy), who are 4-over and in 17th place. Johnston had rounds of 77 and 71, while Hong turned in a 3-under 69 for the first round and followed that with a 79.
Junior Heather Scholten (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) is in 37th place with a 9-over 153 (74-79). Sophomore Katie Trachok (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) is 47th at 11-over (80-75=155).
Arizona's Adriana Zwanck leads the tournament with a 3-under 141.
The final round begins Sunday morning.
