EVANSTON, Ill. -- Seven of Northwestern's 13 in-season varsity squads currently are ranked in their sports' respective top-25 polls, including six of those seven earning rankings in the top 15.
Three teams have top-10 rankings, three others fall between No. 11 and No. 15 in their sports' polls, and the seventh currently stands at No. 16.
Women's lacrosse leads the way with a No. 1 ranking, while women's fencing is No. 5 and women's tennis is No. 9. Teams with top-15 rankings are men's golf (No. 12), wrestling (No. 13) and men's swimming (No. 15). Softball rounds out Northwestern's list of ranked in-season teams at No. 16 in both of its coaches polls.
In the last 10 years, 17 of the Wildcats' 19 varsity sports have earned national rankings, while 18-of-19 have participated in postseason competition.
