South Bend, Ind. - Northwestern's seventh-ranked women's fencing team defeated Duke 14-13 in its only match at the Notre Dame Duals on Sunday. The foil team carried the squad winning 8-1. Both the sabre and epee teams lost 3-6.
NU clinched the match with its 14th win in the second to last match of the dual.
"It was tough for the team to get up for one match after fencing all day Saturday," said head coach Laurie Schiller. "But, even though we didn't fence at our best we were able to pull out the win."
The win improves NU to 27-4 overall on the season.
