The Game
Riding a five-game winning streak, NU looks to extend its streak to six when they host Penn State at 7 p.m. Wednesday night at Welsh-Ryan Arena. The Wildcats improved to 2-0 in the Big Ten for the first time in 23 years with Saturday's victory over Minnesota and can move to 3-0 for the first time in 38 years with a win Wednesday night.

Penn State lost to Ohio State in its conference opener last week, 104-69, snapping its four-game winning streak. The Lions are a much improved team from the previous two seasons, having already surpassed their win total from a year ago.

A Northwestern Win Would ...

  • Give the 'Cats their first 3-0 Big Ten start since the 1967-68 season, 38 years ago. Northwestern last started 4-0 the year prior in 1966-67.
  • Give NU its sixth straight win, the longest win streak since the 2001-02 season.
  • Give NU its second straight win over Penn State and the seventh in the last nine meetings.
  • Improve on Bill Carmody's best start at Northwestern and put the 'Cats at 10-4 overall.
  • Improve the 'Cats to 6-1 at home this season.
