EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern earned the No. 7 seed in the Big Ten Championship the Big Ten announced Sunday. The Wildcats start the tournament by facing second-seeded Ohio State at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10. Northwestern is serving as the 2005 Championship host, its first since 1998.
Big Ten regular-season title holder Penn State earned the championship's No. 1 seed, receiving a bye on the first day of competition.
No. 4 seed Michigan State and fifth-seeded Michigan State kick off the Championship at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10.
Two-time defending national champion Indiana, owner of the third seed, plays the next game against sixth-seeded Wisconsin at 11:45 a.m.
Seventh-seeded Northwestern wraps up the first day of play by taking on the Buckeyes at 2:30 p.m. Ohio State captured the regular-season meeting with the Wildcats, winning 2-1 in Columbus.
On Friday, top-seeded Penn State plays the winner of the Michigan-Michigan State match at noon. The second semifinal features the winners of the Northwestern vs. Ohio State and the Indiana vs. Wisconsin matches.
The championship match is set for 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 13 and will be televised live by CSTV.
