BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Northwestern's field hockey team fell to 6-6 on the season after falling to seventh-ranked Indiana 3-1 Saturday. The Hoosiers scored twice in the first half to slide past the Wildcats. Christina Foley (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) scored off a penalty corner at 31:02 for her second goal of the season.

Indiana scored just over 16 minutes into the match when Kayla Bashore slipped in a rebound off of the corner to give the Hoosiers a 1-0 lead.

After another score,senior Ellen Schlafly (St. Louis, Mo./MICDS) pushed the ball to Amanda Care (Newtown, Pa./Pennsbury) who left it for Foley to bring Northwestern within two.

"I'm happy with the way we responded after Iowa. I think we had some key plays from our seniors," head field hockey coach Kelly McCollum said.

IU scored once more in the second half and went on to the 3-1 win.

The Hoosiers outshot Northwestern 14-11 for the match, but Northwestern tallied more penalty corners, 8-5.

Northwestern plays a neutral-site match against Lindenwood at noon on Sunday, Oct. 9.
