TULSA, Okla. -- Northwestern's Willy Lock (Lima, Peru/Markham College) and Christian Tempke (Wentorf, Germany/Gymnasium Lohbrügge) wrapped up their play at the 2005 Polo Ralph Lauren Championships Tuesday.
Lock and Tempke ended their team play with a doubles loss to Florida's Marick Sykut and Andrew Bailey in the first round of doubles action. Lock and Tempke dropped the match to Florida's No. 61 seeded doubles team, 8-3.
"They played a good match," said assistant coach Arvid Swan. "They went up against a quality team, and obviously they'll continue to get better the more they play together."
Tempke also played a consolation singles match against Arizona State's Chris Biro. Tempke battled Biro in a marathon to win game one, then took the second game for the win, 7-6 (9), 6-3.
"Christian played a good match. The guy he went up against, Chris Biro, is ranked No. 48 in the country, so that's a good win for Christian," Swan said.
The Wildcats will be back in action on Oct. 20 at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships held in Ann Arbor, Mich.
