Northwestern Set to Host 2005 Big Ten Men's Soccer Championship

Oct. 28, 2005

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern University is set to host some of the nation's premier college soccer teams during the 2005 Big Ten Men's Soccer Championship, Nov. 10-13. Northwestern last hosted the men's soccer championship in 1998. This season promises another exciting tournament, as the Big Ten boasts six 2004 NCAA qualifiers, including two-time defending national champion Indiana.

The Big Ten Conference is again one of the nation's most competitive leagues in 2005. Four of the seven conference teams have been ranked in the NSCAA top-25 poll at some point during the season. In addition, Big Ten teams are annually among the nation's leaders in attendance, setting the stage for an electrifying three days of soccer.

While Penn State has already clinched the regular season title and secured a first-round bye, the remaining seeds are yet to be secured. The last Big Ten regular-season match is Wisconsin vs. Northwestern on Nov. 6, and a championship bracket is available at the conclusion of that match.

NUsports.com is set to provide recaps, stats and postgame quotes after each match, and will provide video highlights of each day's action. Sunday's championship match can be viewed live on CSTV.
