EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's Jake Herbert (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) has been invited to participate in the 40th-annual National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Star Classic on Nov. 21, hosted by Oklahoma State University.
The All-Star Classic is a showcase of the best collegiate wrestlers from around the country, and is often considered a preview of the NCAA Championships. The event pairs top-ranked wrestlers in a dual meet format, but doesn't count toward regular-season results.
Five NCAA champions, six preseason top-ranked wrestlers and a handful of All-Americans comprise this year's lineup.
Herbert is slated to face 2005 national runner-up Mark Perry of Iowa. Herbert placed third at last year's NCAA Championships at 174 lbs.
