EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern linebacker Demetrius Eaton's 86-yard fumble return for a touchdown Saturday at Michigan State has been nominated as one of ESPN's 'Pontiac Game Changing Performances.'
With Northwestern leading 14-7 and MSU deep in Wildcat territory, defensive lineman Kevin Mims hit quarterback Drew Stanton in the Spartan backfield. Mims' hit knocked the ball loose and Eaton, who was rushing from an end position, scooped up the ball at the MSU 14-yard line and raced for the endzone. Eaton's TD gave the Wildcats a 21-7 lead, changing the face of the game, as the Wildcats went on to a 49-14 rout of then-No. 22 Michigan State.
