GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Freshman Jennifer Hong (Windermere, Fla./The First Academy) fired a 2-under 70 on Saturday at the Lady Paladin Invitational to move from 38th to fifth place on day two of the three-day tournament. Hong's 70 was the best round by any of the 90 players. She is 3-over (77-70=147) for the tournament.
Despite Hong's strong round, the Wildcats dropped from third to fifth in the team standings and enter the final 18 holes 16 strokes back of host Furman. Michigan State, Mississippi State and TCU are in second, third and fourth place.
Junior Alice Kim (Los Angeles, Calif./Brentwood) carded a 5-over 77 and is in 13th place with a 6-over 150 (73-77).
Junior Heather Scholten (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) and sophomore Brittany Johnston (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) are tied for 32nd place at 11-over. Junior Kelly Robb (Concord, Mass./Middlesex) is in 56th place at 14-over (76-82=158).
Northwestern begins final round action Sunday morning.
