EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern freshman Thomas Bemenderfer (Mishawaka, Ind./Penn) has received one of the most prestigious honors from The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF).
Through its nationwide network of 119 chapters, the NFF announced today its National High School Scholar-Athletes for 2005, and Bemenderfer, a true freshman who is sitting out the 2005 college season due to an injury, is the Midwest Region honoree. The four recipients are being honored for their accomplishments on and off the gridiron.
Bemenderfer, along with the other three honorees -- all college freshmen -- will be honored during the NFF's Annual Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City. Later that evening, they will be recognized in front of a sold-out crowd as part of the NFF's 48th Annual Awards Dinner.
