Willy Lock and Christian Tempke to Compete in 2005 Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's head men's tennis coach Paul Torricelli has announced juniors Willy Lock (Lima, Peru/Markham College) and Christian Tempke (Wentorf, Germany/Gymnasium Lohbrügge) will compete in the 2005 Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships on Oct. 3-9 in Tulsa, Okla.

Tempke and Lock will compete in the singles qualifying rounds as well as compete together in the doubles qualifying rounds. Qualifying will be held on Oct. 3-5 for singles and doubles, while main draw competition is held Oct. 6-9.

Tempke, who is currently ranked No. 125 by the ITA, went 15-13 overall last season while posting an 8-2 Big Ten singles record en route to earning All-Big Ten honors.

Lock went a team-best 25-10 in 2004. He posted a 19-6 dual mark and went 9-1 during conference singles play.

The Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships, which have been played annually since 1979, offers the first national singles and doubles titles of the 2005-06 collegiate tennis season. The tournament is followed by the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in November and the third event is the season-ending NCAA Championships in May.
