EVANSTON, Ill. -- After a three-week road stint, the Wildcats return to the friendly confines of the Leonard B. Thomas Athletic Complex to face Cook County foe Illinois-Chicago at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28.

Northwestern has played five consecutive road matches, a streak that is tied for second most consecutive road contests in program history. The 1990 team is the only to have a longer road swing, playing six consecutive matches away from Evanston.

The Wildcats, who are 2-0 at home this season, look to rebound after dropping their Big Ten opener at Michigan last weekend.

Northwestern played tough against the Wolverines, holding them without a shot-on-goal until the 89th minute.

In what was primarily a defensive battle, Northwestern's David Roth (St. Louis, Mo./Chaminade College Prep) and Kevin Earnest (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) each had a shot-on-goal, but both were saved by the Michigan keeper.

Illinois-Chicago is in the midst of a two-game losing streak after going without a loss in its first four regular-season contests. In their last match, the Flames fell to Detroit in overtime, 3-2.

The Flames feature a balanced offensive attack, with six different players having tallied goals this season. Pavle Dundjer leads the Flames in scoring with six points on one goal and four assists.

For the season, Northwestern compares favorably with the Flames statistically. Both teams have notched eight goals, but Northwestern is averaging 11.9 shots per game to UIC's 10.8, and has been awarded 43 corner kicks to the Flames' 20.

This is the second of four matches the Wildcats will play against Horizon League teams this season.

The Wildcats resume Big Ten play when the Michigan State Spartans come to Evanston on Sunday, Oct. 2. That match starts at 3 p.m. at the LBT Athletic Complex.
