BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Playing in the Lady Northern Invitational -- an annual fall preview of Big Ten teams -- Northwestern is in ninth place after shooting a 12-over 300 in Saturday's second round. The Wildcats are 36-over (312-300) for the first 36 holes, and 38 strokes back of Purdue, which holds a 15-stroke lead over second-place Penn State.
Junior Heather Scholten (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) carded a 2-over 74 to lead the Wildcats in afternoon play and is in 20th place at 7-over (77-74=151). Freshman Jennifer Hong (Windermere, Fla./The First Academy) and junior Alice Kim (Los Angeles, Calif./Brentwood) are both 8-over (76-76=152) and in 26th place.
Junior Kelly Robb (Concord, Mass./Middlesex School) and sophomore Katie Trachok (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) are both 14-over and sitting in 53rd place.
In addition to 10 Big Ten teams competing, Notre Dame and Illinois State are also participating.
