EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern totalled 16 service aces and hit .337 in a three-game sweep (30-10, 30-24, 30-13) of Brown during its second game of the Wildcat Classic Saturday morning at Welsh-Ryan Arena.

With the win, NU improves to 2-0 in the tournament and 8-1 overall for the season. Brown falls to 0-2 in the event and 0-6 on the year.

Sophomore Lindsay Anderson (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) led the Wildcats with 11 kills and a career-best seven service aces.

NU never trailed and were never really challenged in the match, roaring out to a 22-4 lead thanks to a 13-0 run midway through the first game. Anderson served during the run, notching five of her aces in the process.

A pair of Bear attack errors closed out the game with an NU win, 30-10.

Game two saw a totally different theme, with the teams exchanging points and Brown keeping the score knotted as late as 23-23. With sophomore Courtnie Paulus (Belgium, Wis./Ozaukee) serving, NU ran off a 3-0 run to take 26-23 lead on a Paulus ace.

An Anderson ace would later give the Wildcats a 30-24 win.

Game three was more domination from Northwestern. With junior Lauren Greenwood (Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood) serving, NU scored the first seven points of the game, and eventually opened up a 15-2 cushion en route to a 30-13 game win and 3-0 match victory.

Northwestern hit .478 in the final match, killing 14 balls on 23 attempts with three errors.

Immediately following this match is Kentucky vs. Southern Illinois at noon. The evening session of the Wildcat Classic features Brown vs. Southern Illinois at 5 p.m. followed at 7 p.m. by Northwestern against Kentucky.
