FORT MYERS, Fla. -- 2004 Northwestern graduate Erica Rose captured the 2005 United States Open Water National Championship in the 25-kilometer event on Thursday, June 2, at Fort Myers Beach.
Rose swam the open water festival's most grueling race in 6:04:45, besting second-place Erica Watts of Club Wolverine by nearly 12 minutes.
The Cleveland, Ohio, native has won a number of open water national titles at both the 5k and 10k distances. At Northwestern, she ranks on the Wildcats' all-time depth chart for both the 1000 and 1650 freestyle.
