EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Northwestern University Athletic Department will host its annual Field Day at the NU football practice field on Saturday, June 4. Field Day offers children from two Evanston youth organizations -- Youth Organization Umbrella and Family Focus -- the opportunity to interact with NU student-athletes.
Here are the details:
WHAT: The Northwestern University Department of Athletics Annual Field Day
WHEN: Saturday, June 4, 2005
TIME: 1 to 4 p.m.
WHERE: NU Football practice field (northeast of Ryan Field)
Children will participate in such activities as field goal kicking with the football team, water balloon-throwing with the national championship lacrosse team and free throw contests with the men's and women's basketball squads. Field Day allows children to interact with and talk to student-athletes, many of whom they idolize and watch on television. The student-athletes act as role models and allow the children the opportunity to talk with them about issues pertaining to school, athletics, growing up, etc. The day culminates with a pizza party and celebration of participation.
