EVANSTON, Ill. -- Following a five-week hiatus, Northwestern returns to action this Friday and Saturday (April 8 and 9) at the 15th Annual Courtyard by Marriott Intercollegiate in Holly Springs, N.C. The event is being held for the first time at the Devils Ridge Golf Club (par-72, 7,002 yards) due to ongoing renovations at MacGregor Downs, the tourney's regular course.
There are 15 teams entered in this weekend's event, with seven of the 15 teams hailing from the Atlantic Coast Conference. All 15 teams are ranked in the Golfweek/Sagarin index top 100. Northwestern is 61st in the latest ranking, needing to climb some spots to ensure a postseason bid.
"We weren't playing well at our winter tournaments, but I think the break came at a good time for us," says head coach Pat Goss. "We worked hard on our game. Now we'll see if the work has paid off."
The teams play 36 holes on Friday, April 8 and 18 holes Saturday, April 9. Action gets underway at 7 a.m. CT both days.
Some of the top teams in this weekend's event include Wake Forest (No. 7), Duke (No. 11), Tennessee (No. 12), Georgia Southern (No. 18), North Carolina (No. 31) and Kansas (No. 33).
