EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern men's basketball team fell to Iowa Saturday night, but the Wildcats do not have much time to dwell on the loss.
Instead, the Wildcats will take advantage of the bye in the Big Ten schedule -- their second and final bye of the conference slate -- by hosting NCAA Division I independent Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Monday night. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
The Islanders (17-6) arrive in Evanston having won six in a row, including a 62-43 decision over Longwood Saturday night. Among those six wins are a pair against Texas-Pan American, who Northwestern defeated 56-48 on Dec. 31.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi also boasts wins over major-conference teams Florida State and Baylor among its resume this season.
Northwestern had won two in a row before Saturday's loss to the Hawkeyes. Following Monday's game, the 'Cats are at home Saturday against Penn State.
