EVANSTON, Ill. - Sixth-ranked Northwestern improved its record to 33-4 Saturday by winning three out of four matches at the Temple Duals.
The Wildcats defeated St. John's, Temple and Columbia, but fell to Pennsylvania.
The sabre squad carried the 'Cats against St. John's, posting a 8-1 mark, as Northwestern went on to win 16-11. The foil team went 5-4 and epee posted a 3-6 mark.
Against Temple, Head Coach Laurie Schiller received equal output from his team's three weapons. The foil, epee and sabre teams all went 8-1 en route to a 24-3 victory.
The 'Cats stumbed in their third match of the day, falling to Pennsylvania by a score of 18-9.
In Northwestern's last match of the day, the sabre team posted a team-best 7-2 mark, leading the 'Cats to a 16-11 win. The foil team was close behind with a 6-3 mark and the epee squad went 3-6.
