EVANSTON, Ill. - Sophomore Jessica Florendo (Forest Hills, N.Y./The Dwight School) has been named Northwestern's Hilton Garden Inn Athlete of the Week. She would normally be accompanied by a male counterpart, but no men's team saw competition last week.
Florendo was the only Wildcat to place in the foil competition of the United States Fencing Association (USFA) North American Cup over the weekend, posting a 29th-place finish out of 61 participants. It was the second-consecutive strong finish for Florendo in the national tournament, as she came in 28th at the 2003 North American Cup
