EVANSTON, Ill. -- Sports Illustrated has honored Northwestern sophomore goalkeeper Justin Pines (Media, Pa./Strath Haven) for his five-save shutout of then-No. 3 Indiana on Oct. 17, selecting him for its Faces in the Crowd department in this week's issue.
The win was a historic one for Northwestern for a number of reasons: it snapped the Hoosiers' nine-year, 50-match conference winning streak and IU's three-year, 31-match home winning streak. It was also the Wildcats' first ever victory over Indiana and NU's first Big Ten regular season win since 1999.
Pines was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week and earned a spot on Soccer America's Team of the Week for his efforts in Bloomington.
