EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern has named men's soccer freshman David Roth (St. Louis, Mo./Chaminade) and volleyball freshman Lindsay Anderson (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) its Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week.

Roth scored both Northwestern goals in the Wildcats' 3-2 loss to Creighton Tuesday night in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. His first goal put NU ahead, 1-0, in the first half while his second goal gave the Wildcats a 2-1 lead midway through the second stanza.

Roth finished the season with five goals and 14 assists--the NU and Big Ten conference single-season record for assists. His 24 points rank him second in scoring for Northwestern.

Anderson posted five new career highs over the weekend in helping NU earn consecutive wins to close out the season. Friday against Indiana, she recorded 28 kills and two service aces--both career highs. Against Purdue, she had career-bests in attack attempts (74) and block assists (7). She also nailed 25 kills against the Boilermakers for a career-high weekend total of 53.

The honor is the first of both student-athletes' career.
