Top Junior Golfer Signs National Letter of Intent

Nov. 23, 2004

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern Head Coach Chris Regenberg announced the signing of Jennifer Hong (Windermere, Fla./ The First Academy) today to a National Letter of Intent. Hong will join the Wildcats in the fall of 2005.

"Jennifer is a very talented player who will have an immediate impact on our program," Regenberg said. "She has great technical skills, hits a long ball and has wonderful finesse around the greens. We look forward to her being competitive with the best players in the Big Ten Conference and nationally as well."

Hong, a 2004 Rolex Junior All-America Team Honorable Mention, is currently ranked 38th nationally in the National Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings. Her ranking comes after a tremendous 2004 American Junior Golf Association season.

Shooting a three-round two-over-par 218, Hong went on to win the AJGA Subaru Open. She tallied her second AJGA championship with a win at the AJGA Windy City Junior Tournament held in Winnetka, Ill.

Overall, Hong had six top-five finishes in national junior events this year, including a second-place finish at the Golfweek Invitational. Hong also qualified for the 2004 U.S. Women's Amateur, advancing to match play after finishing 11th in qualifying rounds.

Hong was named to the 2004 HP Scholastic Junior All-America Team.
