EVANSTON, Ill. - Freshman Dustin Fox (Galion, Ohio/Galion High School) began his collegiate career with a second-place finish in the heavyweight division of the Michigan State Open Sunday. Fox -- seeded sixth in his weight class -- won his first three matches before falling in the title round to Bill Stouffer of Central Michigan, 4-2.

After dropping his third-round match, sophomore Ryan Lang (North Royalton, Ohio/Lakewood St. Edward) won four straight matches in the consolation bracket to claim third place at 141 lbs. Lang -- seeded third -- dominated the competition in the consolation bracket, winning each match by an average of 10 points.

Senior Mike Kimberlin (Bradley, Ill./Bishop Martin McNamara) -- the No. 1 seed at 157 lbs. -- turned in a third-place finish on the weekend. Kimberlin won his first three matches before falling in a tight quarterfinal bout 6-4. He rallied in the consolation bracket though, eventually beating Keegan Mueller of Ohio State 5-2 to finish third.

Freshman Mike Tamillow (Oak Park, Ill./Fenwick) placed fourth in his first collegiate tournament, going 5-2 overall.

Juniors Matt Delguyd (Mayfield Heights, Ohio/Mayfield) and Dan Quintela (St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park) both posted fifth-place finishes at the open. At 197 lbs., Delguyd -- seeded second -- was upset in the third round, but won three matches in the consolation bracket to place fifth. Quintela posted a 5-3 mark on the weekend at 133 lbs.

The `Cats are next in action when they host a dual match against Northern Illinois at 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3.
