EVANSTON, Ill. -- Sophomore Mike Alexandrov (Champaign, Ill./Centennial) has been named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week after breaking the Norris Aquatics Center pool record in each of his three individual events in Friday's 152-148 loss to Purdue.
Alexandrov helped keep the Wildcats close, sweeping the breaststroke events with pool records, winning the 100 (54.29) and 200 (1:58.10). He also posted another pool record in the 200 IM (1:49.01) and was part of the winning 400 medley relay team that finished first in 3:17.09. All of Alexandrov's times were NCAA provisional qualifying marks.
The honor is the first of his career.
