Day Four Results of ITA Midwest Regional Championships

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern continued to dominate the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Championships Sunday, Oct. 24 as the `Cats posted a combined five wins in singles and doubles action.

In the quarterfinals of the doubles competition, freshman Audra Cohen (Plantation, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) and junior Cristelle Grier (Epsom, England, Putney) defeated Csordas and Ganeva of DePaul 8-3. The duo later advanced to the finals by beating DaCosta and Delicata of Michigan 8-2.

sophomore Alexis Prousis (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) and graduate student Valerie Vladea (Tiffin, Iowa/Minnesota) were also in the quarterfinals draw of doubles action, but fell to Martin and McGaffigan of Wisconsin 8-4.

In the singles draw, No. 1 seed Cohen, No. 2 seed Grier and Prousis all advanced to the quarterfinals with wins. Cohen defeated Milica Veselinovic of Iowa 6-4, 6-3. Grier beat Brook Buck of Notre Dame 6-4, 6-1. Prousis took down Dora Vastag of Indiana 6-4, 6-2.

Doubles finalists will play at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 25. Singles quarterfinals will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 25. with semifinals slated to start at 1 p.m. The singles final round will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26.
