EVANSTON, Ill. - As the fourth day of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Championships came to a close, sophomore Matt Christian (Troy, Mich./Brother Rice) and junior Adam Schaechterle (Oconomowoc, Wis./Kettle Moraine) are all that remains for Northwestern.

The duo won two doubles matches Sunday, Oct. 24 to advance to the quarterfinals. They defeated Binkler and Delmege of Marquette in a close match, 9-7, before beating Debreyne and Ticer of Minnesota 8-5. Christian and Schaechterle will face off against familiar Big Ten foes Atas and Klingemann of Ohio State in the quarterfinals.

Sophomore Jamie Friedland (Glen Cove, N.Y./St. Stephen's) and senior Justin Hoeveler (Ross, Calif./The Branson School dropped their second-round doubles match against Eberly and Wilson of Ohio State 8-3. Seniors Tommy Hanus (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) and Chuck Perrin (Atlanta, Ga./The Walker School) -- seeded 12th -- were upset in their second-round match by Markham and Taylor of Iowa 8-2.
