Justin Pines Named to Soccer America Team of the Week

Oct. 20, 2004

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Sophomore goalkeeper Justin Pines (Media, Pa./Strath Haven) was named to Soccer America's Team of the Week for Oct. 11-17 for his five-save shutout Sunday of defending national champion Indiana.

Northwestern's win broke No. 3 Indiana's 50-match Big Ten regular season winning streak and the Hoosiers' three-year, 31-match home unbeaten streak. The victory was NU's first ever over IU, which has six national titles to its credit, and was the Wildcats' first conference victory since 1999.

The shutout was Pines' first solo effort of the season--he has three combined shutouts with junior Brian Heckenbach.

Pines is the second Wildcat to be named to Soccer America's Team of the Week after sophomore Will Nicholas (Orefield, Pa./Parkland) earned the distinction in September.
