EVANSTON, Ill. -- Senior Noah Herron (Mattawan, Mich./Mattawan) became the third Northwestern player this season to earn Big Ten Conference weekly kudos, picking up Offensive Player of the Week honors for his performance in the Wildcats' 31-24 double-overtime win vs. Indiana.
Herron rushed for a career-high 197 yards on 29 carries for a 6.8 yards per carry average. He also scored two touchdowns in regulation, and then added a career-high-tying third in the second overtime, which proved to be the game-winner. His 16-yard TD run in double overtime came on a fourth-and-one play.
It was the second straight week that Herron scored the Wildcats' game-winning overtime touchdown. He scored on a 1-yard run to beat Ohio State on Oct. 2.
Herron also finished with a career-best 238 all-purpose yards. He caught a personal-best five passes for 41 yards.
Herron, who ranks ninth on NU's all-time rushing list, now ranks 14th nationally in rushing yardage (112.0 ypg) and second in the Big Ten behind Minnesota's Laurence Maroney (135.8 ypg). For his career, he has 1,815 rushing yards and 20 rushing TD's.
Herron joins Brett Basanez (vs. TCU) and John Pickens (vs. Ohio State) as Big Ten Conference player-of-the-week honorees this season.
