KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Senior Ina Kim (Encino, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) turned in one of her top collegiate performances, placing fourth at the Mercedes-Benz Championships, held at Tennessee's Cherokee Country Club. Kim finished the three rounds with a 4-over 217 (71-71-75), six strokes back of Tennessee's Violeta Retamoza.
In the team race, the Wildcats placed ninth with a 61-over 913 (299-309-305). Ohio State, the defending tournament champion, won this year's event again, finishing seven strokes in front of Tulane and the host Volunteers.
Sophomore Alice Kim (Los Angeles, Calif./Brentwood) turned in the Wildcats' best third round. She shot a 2-over 73 and finished 49th (74-85-73=232). Freshman Brittany Johnston (Akron, Ohio/Walsh-Jesuit) placed 58th (77-76-82=235).
NU's other finishers were freshman Katie Trachok (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and sophomore Kelly Robb (Concord, Mass./Middlesex School) who placed 65th and 69th.
The Wildcats close out their fall schedule Oct. 22-24 at the Lady Paladin Invitational.
