AKRON, Ohio -- Former Wildcat Carri Leto won the National Professional Fastpitch league's inaugural championship Sunday as a member of the NY/NJ Juggernaut.
Leto, an NPF All-Star selection, finished the championship game 1-for-4 with a single and two runs scored in a 10-1 win over the New England Riptide. She concluded the season with 41 hits and led the team with 11 stolen bases.
A three-time second-team All-Big Ten selection during her career at NU from 2001-04, Leto immediately flew to join the Juggernaut during spring training following Northwestern's run in the NCAA Regional at Tucson, Ariz., last May.
