Randy Walker To Sing During Seventh-Inning Stretch at Tuesday's Cubs-Cardinals Game

June 8, 2004

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern football coach Randy Walker will put away his clipboard and whistle for one evening as he joins a throng of nearly 40,000 fans at Wrigley Field Tuesday night (June 8) for the singing of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" during the seventh-inning stretch. The Chicago Cubs are hosting their chief National League Central rival, the St. Louis Cardinals, in a 7:05 p.m. CT game (Fox Sports Network).

This will be the third time that Walker, who starred in the musical "Fiddler on the Roof" in high school, will sing at Wrigley Field, and his first appearance since the 2002 season.

"I've been practicing and I'm ready to go," says Walker. "Baseball is one of my true loves, and every time I get the chance to sing 'Take Me Out to the Ball Game' at a venue like Wrigley Field, well ... that's tough to beat!"

Walker is beginning his sixth season as Northwestern's head football coach. He has guided the Wildcats to a pair of bowl games in the last four years.
