EVANSTON, Ill. - Freshman Kristen Kjellman (pictured) was named to the insidelacrosse.com National Honor Roll, which was announced Monday afternoon.
The honor -- Kjellman's first from insidelacrosse.com -- came on the heels of her eight-goal, one-assist performance Sunday at Connecticut. In that game, Kjellman scored the first three goals of the game and had six by halftime, as the Wildcats raced to a 10-4 lead by the break and never looked back en route to an 18-4 win.
Kjellman was one of seven players named to the National Honor Roll by insidelacrosse.com. The National Player of the Week was Mary Key from Johns Hopkins, one of NU's rivals in the American Lacrosse Conference.
In addition to the individual recognition, the Northwestern team was recognized for its big win at UConn with a jump in the IWLCA national poll. The 'Cats moved back up to No. 13, the second time in three weeks they have been in that spot. It is the highest ranking for the program since it was brought back as a varsity in 2002.
NU is also ranked in the insidelacrosse.com National Power Poll (15) and by womenslacrosse.com (15).
The Wildcats hit the West Coast this weekend, taking on No. 19 Stanford Friday night in Palo Alto and California Sunday in Berkeley.
