EVANSTON, Ill. - Junior goalkeeper Ashley Gersuk picked up her second honor of the week Tuesday, being named American Lacrosse Conference Player of the Week. On Monday, she was named National Player of the Week by womenslacrosse.com.
The honors come on the heels of her performance against Ohio State Sunday, when she came up with 15 saves in NU's 9-6 victory.
The ALC award is the first of Gersuk's career. She has been NU's starter in goal since she arrived on campus in 2002 -- NU's first season back as a varsity program.
Northwestern's win over Ohio State was also recognized in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) national poll, as the 'Cats moved up to 15th. That is NU's highest position in the poll since lacrosse was brought back to varsity status.
