EVANSTON, Ill.--Northwestern has named Matt Grevers (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) and Lindsey Munday (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) its Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week.
Grever continued one of the best freshman seasons in Big Ten history this weekend, collecting four gold medals at the Big Ten Championships in West Lafayette, Ind. Grevers broke Big Ten Conference, meet, pool and school records in the 100-yard backstroke en route to one of four first-place finishes.
In addition to two other individual titles, Grevers was named Co-Big Ten Swimmer of the Year, Freshman of the Year and first-team All-Big Ten.
Munday, a sophomore, made the return to her home state a triumphant one for the Northwestern women's lacrosse team, scoring her third goal of the day with just 57 seconds left on the clock as the Wildcats survived a furious Rutgers rally to win Saturday in Piscataway, N.J.
Munday's tally stopped a five-goal run by the Scarlet Knights that tied the game, after NU (2-1) had scored eight of the first nine goals of the game and taken a 9-3 halftime lead.
