MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - After three days of competition, Northwestern moved into seventh place at the Big Ten Championships with 137 team points. Indiana is in first with 417.5 while Penn State and Michigan are close behind with 396.5 and 395, respectively.
Northwestern's 400 medley relay team consisting of Katie Paglini, Katie Simmons, Christy Olin and Michelle Oeser had a strong showing, placing sixth with a time of 3:44.93.
Erica Rose posted NU's best finish in the 400 individual medley, taking 13th with a time of 4:24.46. Olin had Northwestern's best finish of the day, taking fifth place in the "A Final" in the 100 butterfly with a time of 55.32.
Two NU swimmers placed in the "B Final" in the 100 breaststroke as Brielle Bovee and Simmons finished second and third with times of 1:03.53 and 1:04.12, respectively.
Katie Paglini, who finished 12th in the 200 individual medley the day before, finished 11th in the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.44, good enough for third in the "B Final."
Diver Leanne Dumais made the semifinal round in the three-meter event with a score of 448.35, good enough for ninth place overall.
The Big Ten Championships conclude tomorrow as Northwestern will attempt to move closer to the top of the leaderboard.
