ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Northwestern fell to No. 16 Michigan 179.5-109.5 Friday in Ann Arbor in its final Big Ten dual meet on the road. Wildcat swimmers placed first in two individual events, while freshman diver Leanne Dumais claimed the one-meter title. The 'Cats' 400 freestyle relay team took first as well, clocking in at 3:30.85
Northwestern turned in solid performances in a number of individual events as well. Erica Rose posted a first-place finish in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:30.28. Teammates Amy Muller and Vicky West finish second and third, respectively.
Junior Christy Olin continued to dominate in the 200 butterfly. Olin took first with a time of 2:02.05. She placed second in the 100 fly with a time of 57.69.
Senior Katie Simmons had a strong showing. After swimming the second leg for Wildcats' 400 medley relay team which placed second, Simmons posted second-place finishes in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke with times of 1:05.09 and 2:18.35, respectively.
NU is back in action tomorrow when they travel to Toledo, Ohio to take on the Rockets in a nonconference dual meet.
