KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Junior Ina Kim (Encino, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) fired a team-best 1-over 73 on Monday, helping the 44th-ranked Wildcats jump from 12th to fifth place at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships. The final 18 holes will be played Tuesday.
Kim's strong round moved her from 58th place to 30th at 8-over (79-73=152). Freshmen Kelly Robb (Concord, Mass./Middlesex School) and Alice Kim (Los Angeles, Calif./Brentwood), who is not related to Ina, shot 3-over 75's on Monday to remain in the top-30. Robb is still in the hunt for the individual title in 10th place at 3-over (72-75=147), five strokes behind Ohio State's Allison Hanna. Alice Kim is 7-over (76-75=151) and in 26th place.
Lauren Grzebien (Saunderstown, R.I./Narragansett) and Mary Ellen Grzebien (Saunderstown, R.I./Narragansett) are 68th and 73rd, respectively at 14-over (84-74=158) and 15-over (80-79=159). Lauren's 2-over 74 was the Wildcats' second-best round of the day.
After 36 holes, Northwestern is 28-over (307-297=604), 16 strokes back of Ohio State.
