PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. -- Northwestern's doubles team of Cristelle Grier (Surrey, England/Putney) and Jessica Rush (Dallas, Texas/Hockaday School) advanced to the doubles championship match of the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships, but fell 8-6 in the final to Vanderbilt's Kelly Schmandt and Aleke Tsoubanos.
Grier and Rush had reached the final by defeating UCLA's Jackie Carleton and Lauren Fisher 8-4 in Saturday's semifinal round. Grier earned some revenge after having been upended in the singles second round by Carleton on Friday.
The Riviera/ITA All-American Championships are the first of three major Division I collegiate tennis tournaments during the upcoming year.
