EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Northwestern women's cross country team finished fourth out of 12 schools at the Spartan Invitational, which was run Friday afternoon in East Lansing, Mich.

Host Michigan State -- the 13th-ranked team in the nation -- placed first, scoring 47 points. Illinois was second with 74, Ohio State was third with 85, while the Wildcats scored 90.

Junior Diana Hossfeld led the way for NU; the junior placed sixth overall and fourth among collegians with a time of 21:43.3 over the 6-kilometer course. Seniors Emily Blakeslee and Nora Colligan were the next Wildcat runners across the line; Blakeslee clocked 22:09.4 for 14th place, while Colligan was 22nd in 22:33.8.

Freshman Casey Shea was right on Colligan's heels, finishing 23rd in 22:35.6 in her first collegiate race, while senior Nicole Kalogeropoulos rounded out NU's scoring by finishing 25th in 22:38.9.

Northwestern is in action next weekend, taking part in the Roy Griak Invitational which is hosted annually by the University of Minnesota.
