EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern University has announced it recipients of the Hilton Garden Inn Athlete of the Week awards for the week of April 14-20. The men's recipient is David Gresky (North Royalton, Ohio/St. Ignatius) of the baseball team, while the women's winner is golf's Elizabeth Burden (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest).
Gresky, a junior left-hander, hit .545 during the week, going 12-for-22 at the plate. He knocked in 10 RBI, and hit three doubles and two home runs for a slugging percentage of .955. He started all five games, scored eight runs and had an on-base percentage of .600. He also walked three times and stole a base. In a 36-10 win over Chicago State Tuesday, Gresky went 6-for-7 with 10 RBI.
Burden, a senior, matched her top individual finish of the season over the weekend, placing third at the Lady Buckeye Invitational in Columbus, Ohio. She previously finished third earlier this season at the Central District Classic, giving her two of NU's three top-10 individual performances this spring. Burden shot an 8-over 224 (73-75-76) to help the Wildcats finish fourth out of 12 teams, their top team finish of the season.
