AUSTIN, Texas -- Northwestern's women's golf team climbed one notch to 10th place after Monday's second round of the 30th Annual Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational. The Wildcats, ranked 47th in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin index, are now 87-over (332-331=663) after two days and 14 strokes behind ninth-place Michigan State.
Sophomore Mary Ellen Grzebien (Saunderstown, R.I./Narragansett) fired the Wildcats' top round of the day with an 8-over 80. She is now in 53rd place (91-80=171) overall. Senior Elizabeth Burden (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest) leads the NU contingent after two days, sitting in 32nd place at 19-over (80-83=163).
Sophomore Ina Kim (Encino, Calif./Harvard-Westlake), who fired Northwestern's top round (78) on Sunday, is in 38th place with a 22-over 166 (78-88). Junior Lauren Grzebien (Saunderstown, R.I./Narragansett) is one stroke behind Kim and in 42nd place (83-84=167).
Fourth-ranked Oklahoma State continues to lead the tournament, holding a slim four-stroke lead over the host Longhorns. Texas' Jessica Reese is running away with the individual title, leading her closest competitor by nine strokes.
