SOUTH BEND, Ind. - After dropping two competitive matches to top-ranked Penn State and second-ranked Notre Dame on Saturday, Northwestern responded with three wins Sunday in the final day of the Notre Dame Duals. NU defeated Midwest foes Wayne State and Detroit, as well as Cal-San Diego. With the wins, the Wildcats improved to 21-5 this season.
Northwestern routed Detroit, 23-4 and Cal-San Diego, 24-3. The 'Cats' foilists went a combined 18-0 in the two matches
The Wildcat sabreists stole the show against Wayne State, winning eight of their nine bouts. NU went on to an 18-9 win, its 15th consecutive win against Wayne State (dating to 1993).
Northwestern returns to action Feb. 8 at the Columbia Duals.
