Two 'Cats Place in Top Five at USFA Junior/Senior NAC

As expected, Northwestern's fencing team had a strong showing at the USFA Junior/Senior North American Cup last weekend. Julia F?ldi (Budapest, Hungary/Szent Istavan Gimnazium) finished third in the junior foil competition, and freshman Sharon Sullivan (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) took fifth in the junior ep?e draw.

F?ldi, NU's top foilist with a 28-3 mark, also finished 16th in the senior competition. Sullivan, who also is 28-3 in 2003, placed 32nd.

Freshman Emily Pasternak (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) fenced to 32nd place, leading NU's sabreists in the junior draw.

Northwestern, the seventh ranked team in the country, returns to action Jan. 25 at the Ohio State Duals, where it meets Case Western Reserve, Florida, No. 4 Ohio State, Lawrence, Chicago and Cleveland State.
