EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern made it a five-for-six weekend at the NU Duals. The host Wildcats defeated Cleveland State, North Carolina and Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday to run their record to 11-2 on the season. The 'Cats' three wins Sunday came after a pair in the first day of the duals.
Sophomore Julia F?ldi (Budapest, Hungary/Szent Istavan Gimnazium) and freshman Christina Wang (Milpitas, Calif./Castilleja) led the way, with each foilist posting a 7-0 mark on the day. F?ldi is 31-3 on the season and Wang is 29-5.
NU dominated CSU with a 27-0 win. The 'Cats' foil squad limited Vikings' foilists to four total touches in the nine bouts.
Northwestern and North Carolina split the 18 team points for the foil and ep?e squads, setting the stage for a sabre showdown. The Wildcats' squad responded with a decisive 8-1 effort against the Tar Heels.
Northwestern wrapped up the duals with its third win of the day, a 19-8 decision against Fairleigh Dickinson.
The Wildcats are back in action next weekend as they will send representatives to the USFA Junior/Senior North American Cup in San Diego, Calif.
