PRINCETON, N.J. - Northwestern knocked off North Carolina 17-10 and New York University 20-7 but lost to host Princeton 15-12 Saturday at the Princeton Duals. The Wildcats are now 6-1 overall.
NU got another strong performance from its sabre squad this weekend. In a tight meet with the Tigers, the 'Cats' sabreists held on for a 5-4 win. NU added a pair of wins against NYU and UNC. Freshman Emily Pasternak (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) led the Wildcats with eight wins.
Julia F?ldi (Budapest, Hungary/Szent Istavan Gimnazium) and Christina Wang (Milpitas, Calif./Castilleja) each won all three of their foil bouts against North Carolina. They each finished with a 7-2 mark on the day.
Northwestern is next in action Jan. 10-12 when it hosts the NU Duals at Patten Gymnasium. Several of the nation's top programs will be on hand, including Midwest conference power Ohio State and North Carolina.
