EVANSTON, Ill. - Scott Hiller, the husband of Northwestern women's lacrosse coach Kelly Amonte-Hiller and a volunteer assistant with the Wildcats during the spring, was recently named Major League Lacrosse's Merrill Lynch Coach of the Year. He was presented with the award during the MLL's awards banquet in Columbus, Ohio.
Hiller coached the Boston Cannons this season and helped them improve their record by four games, from 3-11 in 2001 to 7-7 this season. That allowed the Cannons to advance to the four-team playoffs, where they lost in the semifinal round to eventual MLL champion Baltimore.
Hiller had been an assistant coach with the Cannons his first year before being promoted to head coach for this season. He has also been the Director of Player Personnel both years.
